Genevieve & Jordan - a romantic autumn wedding at Athol Hall

Genevieve and Jordan were married on a March afternoon in Sydney. The ceremony at the Mary MacKillop Memorial Chapel in North Sydney, then a reception across the water at Athol Hall in Mosman. The forecast had promised grey and rain all week. The day quietly ignored it and turned out golden.

Genevieve got ready at her childhood home, in a room full of the people who've known her longest and a wall full of the life she's lived — family photographs, and more than a few of her dancing. Genevieve is a ballet dancer and teacher, and you feel it in everything: the way she carries herself, the romance she's drawn to, the quiet drama of a beautiful thing done properly. There was a lot of laughing and happy tears that morning, and not much fuss.

She arrived by vintage car to the chapel, where Jordan was waiting. The kind of couple who are visibly, unshowily mad about each other. Down to earth, both of them, with beautiful taste and nothing to prove.

"Anetta had done a shoot with us back in 2018, and it was the most fun and comfortable day ever — we knew then that when we got married, Anetta would be our photographer. Fast forward three years, and she was."

By the time we slipped out for photographs, the sky the forecast had written off was doing something lovely instead. We wandered down to the water, the city and the Harbour Bridge sitting out across the bay, and into the bush near Athol Hall, where Jordan spun her down a track like the two of them had rehearsed it. They hadn't. That's just them.

Athol Hall did the rest. Genevieve's taste ran French and romantic and unmistakably hers: blush and candlelight, garden roses spilling over a floral arch, gold and greenery down round tables. Miss Flouriste filled the old timber hall with flowers until it glowed. Elegant without trying too hard, which is the hardest kind of elegant to pull off.

A down-to-earth couple with beautiful taste, a day that shrugged off the forecast, and a lot of love in one harbourside room. Exactly the kind of wedding I love to photograph.

Planning your own wedding at Athol Hall, or somewhere that feels like you? I'd love to hear about it.

In their words

"We were fortunate enough to have Anetta capture our special memories from our wedding day and she truely was Phenomenal! Anetta had done a shoot with us back in 2018 and it was the most fun and comfortable day ever, and we knew then that when we got married that Anetta would be our photographer.... fast forward 3 years and she was!

Anetta makes you feel so comfortable and often like she's not even there capturing all the special, natural and candid shots that are priceless but making sure to hit every single moment you have spoken to her about before the big day (that you are to busy or overwhelmed to think of on the actual day).

We were in Awe of our photos, from the ceremony, the incredible wedding shoot and all the fun on the dance floor, she didn't just take photos she captured memories and emotions through her photos and for us this was more then we could have ever asked for we can re-live every smile, laugh and tear through her photos for years to come.

We could not recommend her highly enough, in-fact She is already booked in for my sisters wedding in October!!!
Thank you Anetta!!"
